Our company history began with porcelain, which still provides an important basis for our polishing media product line.

In 1933, Richard Stephan Rösler founded a porcelain company in Dessendorf/Sudetenland, He rebuilt the company in 1948, after the end of the war, in Tettau - Schauberg/Upper Franconia. The first polishing medias were created from production scrap: broken pieces of beer bottle tops, pharmaceutical porcelain, and technical ceramics.

In 1958, the family acquired the Alboth & Kaiser porcelain factory in Staffelstein - Hausen, where Richard Stephan"s son, Roland Rösler, built up a production branch dedicated to polishing media. In 1974, he began to develop and produce vibratory finishing systems and compounds.

By 1980 vibratory finishing was booming. Successful sales of polishing media and equipment led to further expansion and the relocation of machine production from Hausen to Untermerzbach.

In 1991, Rösler became an international company. With the purchase of the Rotofinish Group we gained subsidiaries in France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain.

In 1995, Stephan Rösler, representing the third generation, took the helm and continued with the expansion of the company.

In 1998, the company entered the shotblasting field with the purchase of Hunziker Industriestrahltechnik based in Switzerland.

At the end of 1998, the entire company was certified according to DIN EN 14001 and according to DIN EN 9001 standards.

In 1998/1999, our focus on shotblasting technology was expanded with the addition of a second process lab facility at the Untermerzbach site.

In 1999, Rösler Metal Finishing USA, LLC, our US subsidiary was founded in Battle Creek, Michigan.

During 2000/2001, mechanical engineering, equipment production, administration, and customer service were expanded in Untermerzbach.

In 2001, Rosler USA relocated to a brand new state of the art facility enabling the production of ceramic media in the USA.

By the end of 2001, additional subsidiaries were also opened in Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, Brazil, and South Africa.

In 2003, Rosler USA acquired the Walther Trowal (USA) media and equipment production facility located in Heber Springs, Arkansas along with the VL/RAMPE polyurethane lining facility located in Marshall, Michigan from the USF Surface Preparation Group.

In 2004 the strategic alignment of the Rösler Group was extended with the integration of Vapor Blast (aerospace peening specialist) into the Rösler France organization

In 2005 Köhne GmbH was acquired by Rösler enabling the company to become a single source vendor of complete preservation lines.

In 2006, Rösler USA acquired Jet Wheelblast Equipment, a manufacturer of wheel blasting equipment, and it's sister company Kleiber & Schultz, a manufacturer of wet / slurrly blasting equipment based in Adrian, Michigan.

2006 also saw the construction of an additional shotblasting assembly hall in Untermerzbach as well as the acqusition of the polyester plastic media line from Polyflow, Inc by Rösler USA.

In 2007 the Rösler Group also acquired Baiker Maschinebau AG based in Switzerland.  Baiker is the manufacturer of special high tech shot blasting and shot peening systems.

Also in 2007 Rösler USA purchased the polyester plastic media line from ElectroHone Technologies, Inc and Rösler Italiana S.r.L. acquired  Reni Cirillo S.p.A, an italian manufacturer of vibratory finsihing equipoment.

In 2007 to further our commitment to become the leading world wide supplier of shotblasting equipment we invested over 12 million Euros’ for another new production hall and equipment at the Untermerzbach site.

Today, the Rösler - Group has 1,102 employees worldwide, including 89 in the USA and 712 in Germany.  We are headquartered in the Bavarian town of Bad Staffelstein / Hausen and in the neighboring village of Untermerzbach / Memmelsdorf and our our distribution network is supported by 12 branches and over 60 worldwide representatives.

In spite of our size, we are still a family company and plan to remain so in the future.
